I am the Sr. Unit Director of the Mervin G. Morris Clubhouse in Redwood City. Michael’s professional career in youth development began in San Francisco with the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Francisco. I have diligently worked with youth based organizations in the formulation and promotion of youth oriented projects. My commitment to youth development is widely acknowledged by my peers within the non-profit sector, amongst community members and most importantly with the youth that I have closely worked with. In recognition of my efforts, I have been honored with awards, gratitude and praise from mycolleagues and youth. I pledge towards youth development remains steadfast and incessant
Soy el Director de la unidad de Sr. de la casa club de la sección Mervin G. Morris en Redwood City. Inició su carrera profesional de Miguel en desarrollo de la juventud en San Francisco con los chicos y chicas clubes de San Francisco. He trabajado diligentemente con las organizaciones juveniles basados en la formulación y promoción de proyectos orientados a la juventud. I found BGCP after leaving the Tech world, knowing that I wanted to do something that really made a difference in people's lives. I firmly believe that our youth are our future, and am deeply disturbed by the systemic social inequality that we still face as a country. That being said, I am ever optimistic and inspired by programs like the Boys and Girls' Club. I believe that the best way to impact society is through educating our youth; I also believe that the best starting point to make change is within one's own community. My favorite part about this job is getting to know our students and playing an active role in their lives every day to help them find and pursue their own passions and unique gifts. I advocate lifelong learning and exploration of a variety of things the world has to offer. I want to level the playing field for our kids, and break down the structural barriers which keep certain groups from achieving their full potential.

Encontré BGCP después de dejar el mundo de la tecnología, sabiendo que yo quería hacer algo que realmente hizo una diferencia en la vida de las personas. Creo firmemente que nuestros jóvenes son nuestro futuro y están profundamente preocupados por la desigualdad social sistémica que aún enfrentamos como país. Dicho esto, yo soy siempre optimista e inspirado en programas como los niños y Club niñas. Creo que la mejor manera de impactar a la sociedad es a través de educar a nuestra juventud; También creo que la mejor partida punto para hacer el cambio es dentro de una comunidad. Mi parte favorita de este trabajo es llegar a nuestros estudiantes y desempeñar un papel activo en sus vidas cada día para ayudarles a encontrar y perseguir sus propias pasiones y regalos. Estoy a favor de aprendizaje permanente y la exploración de una variedad de cosas que el mundo tiene para ofrecer. Quiero nivelar el terreno para nuestros hijos y romper las barreras estructurales que impiden ciertos grupos alcanzar todo su potencial.

My name is Sarah Rodriguez, I am Program Assistant at The Forest. Being a Redwood City native I have experienced the great things in this community. As an alumni of Hoover, McKinley and Sequoia it has provided me with a full lens of empathy. The best part of working in the Boys and Girls Club is reconnecting with youth I worked with when they were younger and seeing them do amazing things in high school. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for the youth of our community, being part of it is a great pleasure.
Mi nombre es Sarah Rodriguez, soy Asistente de programa en el Forest. Siendo una ciudad de la secoya nativo que he experimentado las grandes cosas en esta comunidad. Como un alumni de Hoover, McKinley y Sequoia me ha proporcionado una lente completa de empatía. When I was in high school, I did not have the resources at home to navigate the education system. However, I was fortunate to meet amazing mentors that supported and guided me. They played a key role in my acceptance to college and I want to be that same mentor for youth. I want to motivate and inspire them to pursue higher education. I love working at the Boys and Girls Club because every day is different, I get to meet a variety of talented individuals that will help make the world a better place. I enjoy all the conversations with my students about how their day went, learning about their dreams, see them cross the stage at high school graduation and see them begin their college journey. The most rewarding thing about working at the Boys and Girls Club, is when students appreciate the opportunities we expose them to.
Cuando estaba en la escuela secundaria, no tengo los recursos en casa para navegar el sistema educativo. Sin embargo, tuve la suerte conocer a mentores increíbles que me guió. Jugaron un papel clave en mi aceptación a la Universidad y quiero ser eso mismo mentor para la juventud. Quiero motivar e inspirarlos a seguir educación superior. Me encanta porque cada día es diferente de trabajo en el Boys and Girls Club, llego a cumplir una variedad de personas que ayudarán a hacer del mundo un lugar mejor. Disfruto de todas las conversaciones con mis alumnos acerca de cómo fue su día, conociendo sus sueños, verlos cruzar la etapa en la graduación de la high School secundaria y verlos a comenzar su viaje de colegio. ​​I have been working for the past 9 years with the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula. I started as a mentor at CNG, shortly after graduating from San Jose State University with a B.A. in Kinesiology. Now I am one of the leaders at the Forest where the students and trees keep growing. It has been an amazing journey to see so many kids grow up and become leaders in the community. I truly believe it is my job to give any student that comes through the doors the hope and motivation needed to achieve their goals. I look forward to inspiring many more students in years to come.
He estado trabajando durante los últimos 9 años con el Boys and Girls Club de la península. Comencé como un mentor en CNG, poco después de graduarse en la San José State University con una licenciatura en Kinesiología. Ahora soy uno de los líderes en el Forest donde los árboles y los estudiantes seguir creciendo. Ha sido un viaje increíble ver tantos niños crecer y convertirse en líderes en la comunidad. Creo sinceramente que es mi trabajo darle a cualquier estudiante que viene a través de las puertas de la esperanza y la motivación necesaria para alcanzar sus metas. After 5 years, I have continued working at the Boys and Girls Club because I truly believe that we are changing the lives of many young people in the community. I went to UC Berkeley for undergraduate studies, I graduated in 2010 and just graduated from University of Southern California with my Masters in Public Administration (May 2016).We are constantly providing opportunities, support, and most importantly, hope. I personally identify with many of the students who walk through our doors because like many of them, I am a first-generation college student who shares many of the same values. One of the best parts of this work is being inspired by students and building strong relationships that positively influence the trajectory of our communities.
Después de 5 años, he continuado trabajando en el Boys and Girls Club porque realmente creo que estamos cambiando las vidas de muchos jóvenes en la comunidad. Fui a UC Berkeley para estudios de pregrado, me gradué en el 2010 y acaba de graduar de Universidad de California del sur con mi maestría en administración pública (mayo de 2016). Constantemente están proporcionando oportunidades, apoyo y lo más importante, esperanza. Personalmente me identifico con muchos de los estudiantes que caminan a través de nuestras puertas, porque como muchos de ellos, soy un estudiante universitario de primera generación que comparte muchos de los mismos valores. Una de las mejores partes de este trabajo es inspirada por los estudiantes y construcción de relaciones sólidas que influyen positivamente en la trayectoria de nuestras comunidades.

I am a person who has "walked a mile" in the shoes of a Club youth. I successfully navigated gang infested neighborhoods, sat in classrooms uncertain of my future and was told I had a learning disability. My story mirrors many of today's students. Despite my hardships, I graduated from high school with honors, became a National Youth of the Year Finalist for Boys & Girls Club of America, attend Menlo College, and has become a mentor for countless teens and young people. I want to be an example for students born and raised in intercity communities like Compton that their beginning is not their end. My journey that landed me here at the Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula was truly a blessing. A wise person once said, "if you enjoy what you do, you will never work a day in your life." I can truly attest to that statement. Every morning I wake up excited of the opportunity to impact the lives of the students we serve. Each of our young people are equipped with an unlimited sources of potential and will truly have an impact on the world - I am glad to have the pleasure to be apart of a team who is guiding these youth to do just that. Great Futures truly do Start Here!
Soy una persona que ha "caminado una milla" en los zapatos de un joven Club. Con éxito navegado barrios infestados de pandillas, se sentó en las aulas de mi futuro inciertas y le dijo que tenía una discapacidad de aprendizaje. Mi historia refleja muchos de los estudiantes de hoy. A pesar de mis dificultades, me gradué de high school con honores, se convirtió en un nacional de la juventud del año finalista para Boys & Girls Club of America, asistir a la Universidad de Menlo y se ha convertido en un mentor para innumerables adolescentes y jóvenes. Quiero ser un ejemplo para los estudiantes nacidos y criados en comunidades intermunicipales como Compton que su principio no es su fin. Mi viaje que me aterrizó en el Club de niños y niñas de la península era realmente una bendición. Una persona sabia dijo una vez, "Si te gusta lo que haces, nunca trabajarás un día en tu vida." Realmente puedo dar fe a esa declaración. Cada mañana me despierto excitado de la oportunidad de impactar las vidas de los estudiantes que atendemos. Cada uno de nuestros jóvenes están equipadas con una ilimitada fuente de potencial y realmente tendrá un impacto en el mundo - me alegro de tener el placer de ser parte de un equipo que está guiando a estos jóvenes para hacer precisamente eso. ¡Un futuro verdaderamente hace empezar aquí!

​​ After being born and raised in Mexico City, I moved to the United States at the age of 16. Coming to this country was a very tough experience for me as I encountered a huge cultural shock. Attending a new school while trying to learn a new language was difficult; having no access to any outside of school resources, I had to rely on the support of my family and close friends to overcome many obstacles. I wish I would have had access to a Boys and Girls Club during high school to help with the transition and the process of applying to colleges. I choose to work at the BGCP because I can relate to many of the students that we serve in the community. Many of our students have migrated to this country after being raised outside of the country; these students are facing the same obstacles I once overcame. I hope to make a positive impact on our teens by sharing some of my experiences and guiding them through their journey in high school and into their adult lives.
Después de ser nacido y criado en la ciudad de México, me mudé a los Estados Unidos a la edad de 16. Venir a este país fue una experiencia muy dura para mí, me encontré con un gran choque cultural. Asistir a una nueva escuela al intentar aprender un nuevo idioma era difícil; no tener ningún acceso a ninguna fuera de recursos de la escuela, tenía que contar con el apoyo de mi familia y amigos para superar muchos obstáculos. Ojalá hubiera tenido acceso a un Boys and Girls Club durante high School secundaria para ayudar con la transición y el proceso de solicitud a las universidades. Decido trabajar en la BGCP porque puedo relacionar a muchos de los estudiantes que servimos en la comunidad. Muchos de nuestros alumnos han emigrado a este país después de ser levantado fuera del país; Estos estudiantes se enfrentan a los mismos obstáculos que superé una vez. Espero poder hacer un impacto positivo en nuestros adolescentes por compartir algunas de mis experiencias y guiándoles a través de su recorrido en la escuela secundaria y en su vida adulta.

​​The Boys and Girls Club has allowed me to help teens turn their visions into a reality. Everyday I come to work with motivated and creative young individuals, who are shaping tomorrow's world one video at a time. Through media, I help teens express themselves as they learn real-world techniques in film making and photography. It's a gratifying experience to walk into the clubhouse and see the drive in everyone's faces.
El Boys and Girls Club me ha permitido ayudar a adolescentes a hacer realidad sus visiones. Todos los días que vengo a trabajar con individuos jóvenes motivados y creativos, que son video de mundo una de la mañana en un momento. A través de los medios de comunicación, ayudar a los adolescentes se expresan mientras aprenden técnicas reales en cine y fotografía. Es una experiencia gratificante para entrar a la casa club y ver la unidad ante todo el mundo.

I am a graduate student at Sofia University finishing up my Masters in counseling psychology, with the eventual goal of becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Expressive Arts Therapist.  This is my first year with the Boys & Girls Club; I’ve been working at the Redwood City Clubhouse since September.  I love the opportunity to support our students’ social and emotional well-being every week!  The comradery of the students and staff inspires me and makes the Boys & Girls Club a positive atmosphere for all!
Soy estudiante de postgrado en la Universidad de Sofía acabado encima de mi maestría en Consejería en psicología, con la meta eventual de convertirse en una licencia de matrimonio y terapeuta familiar y terapeuta de artes expresivas registrado. Este es mi primer año con el Club de niños y niñas; He estado trabajando en el Clubhouse de Redwood City desde septiembre. Me encanta la oportunidad de apoyar a bienestar social y emocional nuestros estudiantes cada semana! La camaradería de los estudiantes y el personal me inspira y hace que el Club de niños y niñas un ambiente positivo para todos!

I am a writer, director and visual effects artist whose work has been seen in award winning music videos and short films. My award winning feature length motion picture “Vampariah” is currently in in film festivals nationwide. I am excited to share my skills in technology with teens. 
Soy un escritor, director y artista de efectos visuales cuyo trabajo ha sido visto en videos de música ganadores del premio y cortometrajes. Mi premio característica de longitud película "Vampariah" está actualmente en festivales a nivel nacional. Estoy emocionado de compartir mis conocimientos en tecnología con los adolescentes.

​​I have been a member of the Forest family since I was a teenager. BGCP helped shape my future by teaching me the tools of a media maker and soon pursued it as a professional career. I made my debut as a music producer while in college and landed placements on several highly acclaimed music albums. I now have the amazing opportunity to teach the Music Technology program at the Forest High School Center helping nourish the next generation of gifted musicians.
He sido un miembro de la familia del Forest desde que era adolescente. BGCP ayudó a formar mi futuro por enseñarme las herramientas de un fabricante de medios de comunicación y pronto lo había perseguido como una carrera profesional. Hice mi debut como productor musical en la Universidad y aterrizó colocaciones en varios álbumes de música aclamada. Ahora tengo la increíble oportunidad de enseñar el programa de tecnología musical en el centro de la High School secundaria de Forest ayudando a alimentar a la nueva generación de talentosos músicos.
